This is an interesting honey, it is sweet but not overly, but also with a slightly bitter aftertaste, but I only noticed that after my first taste; the rest of the bites, I didn't notice the bitterness. I did have this on homemade bread and in tea, and I like it in both. It is a nice dark honey, and though it is thick, it is not as thick as other honey's as I made a bit of a mess just opening the jar. It spreads easily and blends/dissolves well in hot beverages.
This is really good but different than a lot of the sweet golden honey flavors that many of us are used to. It’s a darker, richer flavor that is more complex and almost reminds me of the flavor and texture of molasses, but not as cloyingly sweet. It has been fun to experiment using in different recipes and even with tea, to see what flavors it helps to bring out. I think it’s actually really good in snickerdoodle cookies, as well as Earl Grey and Chai! For reference I almost always prefer savory things over sweet, and love rich smokey flavors, so take my feelings with a grain of salt. At a current price of about $34 for 8.5 ounces, this is not inexpensive but is still a great value for a high quality, very unique honey.
This is a very good quality honey that may not suit all palates. Unlike honey with origins in flowers, this is a dark and intense product with a distinct molasses flavor, with a hint of caramel and spices.Unlike some US brands of this type of honey that don't list the origin, this product is produced by a Brazilian company overseen by the country's Ministry of Agriculture. My product has a September 2026 best-by date.I recommend trying it before the prices go up even further due to likely increasing tariffs. It was $30 only two weeks ago. Now $35.⭐️1 star — I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars — I don't recommend it: has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars — It's passable: it has some faults, but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars — Product quite acceptable, and it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars — Product that I totally recommend.
I've had many types of honey in the past, but this was my first experience with Bracatinga honey. It apparently has some things in common with Manuka honey in that it has a higher nutrient density and unique properties based on the bees that create it collecting nectar from the Bracatinga tree blossoms. It is a much darker and thicker honey than most that I've tried before, but it is still liquid (it's not creamed for thickness). The texture is very smooth and velvety. The flavor has the honey taste you'd expect with more intensity and a finishing flavor which is hard to describe. Unlike Manuka honey, which can have a medicinal or herbal finish, this has a slightly "fermented" finishing flavor which is unique, but not unpleasant. It is less aromatic than conventional honey, but has a stronger flavor so you don't need to use much of it to get the taste. This is, undoubtedly, very good quality honey with a high concentration of nutrients. It's not something that you consume just for the sweetening properties. That makes the question of value for money harder to consider since you're paying a bit more, but you're getting something which acts as a supplement as well as food. I found that it was really enjoyable when I added it to tea and I felt better about using it than something like sugar or conventional honey.
This Bracatinga honey has a unique flavor and feels high quality. It is less sweet with a more molasses or caramelized flavor. The scent also resembles molasses candy. It is a thinner consistency that I expected, still syrupy and smooth but runs off the spoon faster than clover honey. Was excellent drizzled over cheese - as it imparted not just sweetness but additional flavor. Was amazing on sharp cheddar. It's a bit pricey, so something for special occasions.
